How do I check my quota for disk space?

You can check your disk quota useing the command "quota -v".

DETAILED SOLUTION

To check your disc quota:

  1. Login to your account at animus using TELNET (TELNET TUTORIAL)
  2. Type:
    quota -v
The report should look something like this:

Filesystem     usage  quota  limit    timeleft  files  quota  limit    timeleft
/export/home    1011  20480  25360                 15      0      0
The report shows that this user is currently using 1.011 Megabytes of disk space, they are allowed to use up to 20.480 Megabytes and They have a hard limit of 25.360 Megabytes. This user will not be able to have more than the 25.260 Megabyte limit to their account. However, any amount greater than 20.480 Megabytes and less than 25.360 Megabytes is allowed a 2 day grace period. If the extra space is not freed up within the 2 day period or the user does not raise their quota they will not be able to write or edit any files.
